Full Text

Sept. 20. Yesterday morning a fire broke out at Mr. Hyde's, a Stocking-Trimmer, in St. Thomas Apostle, which has entirely destroyed that house, and greatly damaged those adjoining. The flames had got to such a head before the family were alarmed, that Mrs. Hyde was obliged to throw her child, of a year old, out of a two pair of stairs window, which was caught in a blanket unhurt; but in following herself (being with child,) she missed the blanket, and was killed on the spot. Mr. Hyde likewise jumped out of the window, and broke one of his thighs and fractured his skull. An elderly blind woman, who lay with the maid and who first alarmed the family, is missing. The maid escaped over the top of the house. This accident is supposed to have been occasioned by a stove, which is made use of in their way of business.
