ZEPPELIN RAIDERS KILL AND DESTROY OVER CITY IN MIDST

FIRST AUTHENTIC INFORMATION CONCERNING RECENT RAID OVER ENGLISH CAPITAL IS BROUGHT TO NEW YORK.

NEW YORK, Sept. 20.—A number of persons who saw the first Zeppelin raid over the heart of London, September 9th, arrived on the steamer Orduna today. Some stated there were three Zeppelins, while others said there was only one airship.

The air machines circled the hotel and theatre district, dropping incendiary and explosive bombs.

An entire block of warehouses was burned. A six-story tenement was wrecked, and a dozen men, women and children were killed.

Several bombs fell near three of the hospitals, shattering all windows.
