Clark Presents
Elwyn Carter,
Bass-Baritone

Tonight at 8:30 o'clock in the Davage Auditorium, Clark College will present Elwyn Carter, the last in the series of artists to be presented this season. Of real American stock and completely American-trained, Elwyn Carter, bass-baritone has a voice whose range depth and power are perfect complements to his towering physique and impressive bearing.

Beginning at the age of five, when he made his debut as a boy soprano in Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Carter started on a career of study training and singing which has taken him to every part of the country, as a concert recitalist, as an oratorio singer and as an operatic and light opera lead.

In addition to being a vigorous and inspiring singer, Mr. Carter is an earnest student of music, having received a bachelor of music degree from Alma College and a Master of Music from the University of Michigan. He also studied at the Julliard Graduate School of Music in New York where he sang leading baritone roles in all of the well known operas. Like most bass-baritones, Mr. Carter is partial to those composers who have not neglected to write important parts for the low ranging voices. Mozart and Verdi are his favorite composers and "Don Giovanni and "Aida" his favorite operas.

Mr. Carter not only sings in every medium but eight languages. Besides the usual musical languages Italian, French, German, and Spanish, Mr. Carter knows Latin, Hebrew, Russian and Chinese. He is now soloist at the New York Presbyterian Church on Lower Fifth Avenue.
