The discovery of a fabulous quantity
of free gold in a specimen
of
rock said to have come from the
famous Dolly B claim on the East
Fork of the Skagway river is causing
quite amount of excitement in
town today.
The find was made by J. C. McRinn who examined a quantity of
waste which had been placed in his
forge for the purpose of burning it.
Upon cleaning out his forge this
morning McRinn examined the rock
and upon breaking it up was amazed
to find that it was filled with the
most lucre. Five pounds of the
ore granulated and the mass
was panned with the result that
65 cents in free gold was recovered.
Immediately a search was started to
find from whence came the rich
ore. It is claimed that the
ore was brought to the shop by
Arthur Wilson and was from the Dolly
B claim on the East Fork of the
Skagway river.
The pan of gold has been on ex-
hibition in the office of Phil Abraham
and has caused a big stampede
of sight seekers to that place.
