Idaho Avalanche.
On Thursday last Mr. Dewey had a preliminary examination before J. H. Wickersham, Probate Judge, C. M. Hays, District Attorney, and Major Huston, of Boise City, appearing for the people, and Richard Z. Johnson, Esq., for the defendant. Five witnesses were examined on behalf of the prosecution, and six on behalf of the defendant. It was then agreed that the committing magistrate should personally examine the positions occupied by the witnesses to the shooting, as well as that of the combatants, and that the case should be submitted without argument, and that the Court render its decision on Friday morning. On the convening of Court on Friday morning the committing magistrate held the defendant, without bail, to answer before the Grand Jury of this county at the next term of the District Court.
