Full Text

Stir up the animals! Blister them well!
There's nothing but red-hot iron will do;
And give them fire to bite and to smell,
For surely it's nothing but sport to you.

Little boy Blaine, do you never ask,
When loudly you shout and blow your horn,
If ever an end will come to your task
Of scaring cattle out of the corn ?

Say, can you figure and estimate
How long a party should hold its life,
That lives upon little but sectional hate,
That thrives and grows fat upon civil strife?

Little boy Blaine, take care! take care!
Be sure you are right when you blow your horn;
Be sure that the rascally cattle are there,
And don't you set fire to the fields of corn.
