From the Baltimore Daily News of October 31st, we learn that a late painting from the brush of the talented young Baltimore artist, Mr. B. West Clinedinst, formerly of Staunton, son of Barney Clinedinst, at Myers & Hedian's Art Rooms, North Charles street, Baltimore. It is called "Suspected Conspiracy," and is executed with that originality of conception and faithfulness of detail which is characteristic of Mr. Clinedinst's work. The scene is laid in the northern part of Picardy, and portrays the interior of a peasant's cottage. By the fireside is seated an old man, an invalid, who with his face bound in rags is apparently oblivious to all surroundings and intent only upon his own sufferings, but who is eagerly and suspiciously watching from the corner of his eye two women who are standing together in the centre of the room preparing a potion for him. The scene is natural and life-like, and one unconsciously sympathizes with the old man in his dread of the bitter draught. Mr. Clinedinst studied art in Paris for five years under the most eminent French masters, among them Cavanel and Bounat. His pictures have twice been exhibited at the celebrated Salon of Paris, an honor of which the greatest artists are proud. Last spring he disposed of a large painting called "Peace" to the French government. He has recently returned to Baltimore and opened a studio there.
