ALAMOSA, Colo., Oct. 29.-State Senator Lorimer of Illinois, whose election, it is charged, was secured by wholesale bribery of the legislature, heard Governor Shafroth talk at the Democratic rally at Alamosa last night. The senator is accompanied by his attorney, Elbert Hanecy, former circuit judge of Illinois. They have been in Alamosa since last Sunday on business in connection with the 70,000-acre Costilla ranch, in which Senator Lorimer and Colorado capitalists are interested.
"It was a good talk," said Senator Lorimer, referring to the governor's speech. "It was convincing. I know Governor Shafroth well. We served in congress together."
When asked about the Illinois bribery investigation, Senator Lorimer said, "I have been asked that question a hundred times at least. I have said nothing aside from my public statements. The question is in the hands of the senate investigation committee and we must all await their report."
"Do you believe the report of the committee will be favorable to you?"
"That would be presumptuous, would not it?" was his reply, and the senator smiled.
Senator Lorimer has a florid face and is a strongly built man, a good mixer and frank in his speech. The senator left this morning for Chicago.
