RE-ORGANIZATION OF THE MILITIA.

Some gentlemen suppose they have accomplished wonders, and blown up the subject onto Mr. Poinsett's scheme, by high 'skilful' proof that it is not a Standing Army! Oh! what a horrible perversion of the English language, says Mr. Ritchie, what a vile trick it is! what a misrepresentation! to call this scheme a Standing Army!! How the rascals ought to be 'flayed alive' for deceiving the people by calling such a scheme a Standing Army. It is the grossest ignorance—the most wicked fraud and deception that was ever practised upon the credulity of the people!! This is re-echoed by the parasites of power over the whole United States by the Administration members, and volley of denunciation is repeated in the army everywhere. Very well, gentlemen—let us change the name of the plague which the Secretary of War sent to the President (not to Congress) at the commencement of the Session, which the President recommended to the consideration of Congress... Let us change the name! Let us opprobriously say it is not a Standing Army like the one now in existence, and we will sign the plan because you call the organization what then? Will the people of this country stand sans the Militia? Will you dare to justify a less in name is more unpleasant to the ear? Why said a farmer to us the other day I care not what you call ing Army!!!! Yes sir, you slate at us, but I the infernal scheme. I say it is worse than a Standing old fashioned Standing Army. Let me tell you it is worse in my judgment, that a regular Army in every point of view in which the subject can be considered; and I would greatly prefer paying my portion of the expense of a doing, by voluntary or have my sons subjected to the enactments of this infernal scheme, a regular Army day on one, than to foundation of a Military Despotism Regular A.. infernal scheme, which does not stay by the smacks of. Every man who enters a Knox mues are taken off to their p is—they are made Army does it voluntarily, and with his eyes open and they would not contaminate the country half as much as would this new scheme I Re-organizing the Militia! Tell me sir, that my son is to be made liable to be drafted in a time of peace, to he put rnto the service of the United States, I be m r hod some 2 or 3 hundred miles to a place of r n dezvous, and there to be put under the absolute and despotic government of the President. The there is no war!!!! Why sir, we in our uigh bohood, have talked over this matter, and we all agree that the scheme is worse than a Standing Ar proporiton of the expense of a regular old fashioned Standing Army; and we would infinitely prefer paying our little Dead letter President foisted upon us. Bred Standing Army, than to have this scheme of cus eheme is worse than the old one to raise a Regular the Constitution! the other I say you again state, te and the raising of a Regular Army would not violate a e sides, said he, it is a violation of the Constitution current lar Army; and none calling it only a scheme to you have convinced us entirely, thus the scheme is way any of the objections to B. Why sir, stand we. classify and organize the Militia, do not take whced us of one other thing, and that is, that you are more fit to be President of the United States than the President now in power, if he thinks that such are-organization of the Militia as he has recommended, would not be a gross daring infraction of the Constitution, as well as a most destructive idea sueto the happiness result security.
