Full Text
We are gratified to learn that the suggestion made by "Baltimore County" a few days since in the Gazette, of gathering neighborhood contributions in corn for our suffering people South, is being acted on in some of the counties.
A movement has been made in Anne Arundel and Calvert counties, under the superintendence of Dr. Thomas Owens, of Bristol, Anne Arundel county, which will probably result in the collection of seven or eight hundred bushels, although neither of those counties are corn-producing to any extent.—
Similar action in Washington county has resulted in the forwarding of three car loads of corn to Messrs. Newcomer & Co. Large contributions are expected from Frederick county. Corn sacks marked with the names of the counties desiring them, are sent from here to any part of the State, free of charge, on application to any of the State Commissioners.—Balt. Gazette.
