W. M. Reed of Springfield was at his old home over Sunday.
F. B. Warner was in Springfield for a short visit this week.
The ladies' circle will meet with Mrs. Whithed next Wednesday afternoon.
Miss Jennie Foskitt spent last week with her sister, Mrs. Joseph Woodard.
Rev. J. I Beeman will preach at the chapel next Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
Prof. Wm. K. Shipman and niece, Miss Margaret Shipman of Tufts college, visited at E. O. Lee's this week.
The Vernon House is receiving a new coat of paint, and Mr. Johnson has broken ground for his new house.
Miss Florence Thurber of Brattleboro has been engaged to teach the school near Vernon station, beginning April 18.
Capt. B. R. Allen is in Whitefield, N. H., attending a musical convention. His daughter, Minnie sings there as first soprano.
W. H. Fosburg and family of Worthington, Mass., have moved to the farm of D. L. French, and Walter Barrows has moved from the French farm to Guilford.
School in Pond district begins next Monday with Miss Ruth R. Cronyn of Bernardston, Mass., as teacher; the South Vernon school also begins then, Miss Nettie Evans continuing in charge.
