196 DEER KILLED THIS YEAR.

During the open season for deer which ended November 1st in this state, 196 deer were killed as compared with 127 in 1900, and 89 in 1899. In 1898 when the open season extended through the month of October 131 deer were reported killed. There are several not yet reported for 1901 and John W. Titcomb, state fish and game commissioner, believes full returns will carry the number of deer shot up to fully 200. Mr. Titcomb says that he estimated about 25 per cent. more deer are killed in the open season than are actually reported. Included in this per cent. are undoubtedly a number of does.

PLYMOUTH THE BANNER TOWN.

The banner town this year is Plymouth, in Windsor county, where 23 deer are reported to have fallen. Other towns in which over 10 were killed follow: Chittenden, Rutland county, 10; Shrewsbury, Rutland county, 11; Bridgewater, Windsor county, 13.

The slaughter by counties as reported up to Tuesday follows:
