A three-state bulletin has been issued by the Quincy Police Department for a hitchhiker who slugged a local service station attendant Monday morning about one o'clock and escaped with about $50 in cash.
Reports are that the hitchhiker hung around the Shell Service Station on East Jefferson Street, owned by James J. Waters, Sunday and Sunday night on the pretense that it was too cold to hitchhike.
About 1 A.M. Monday morning the hitchhiker allegedly slugged Bill Black, the 18-year-old attendant, several times with a crescent wrench and escaped with about $50.
Black was admitted to the Gadsden County Hospital for treatment, and released later in the morning.
The bulletin, issued to law enforcement officers in Florida, Georgia and Alabama, described the hitchhiker as about 30-years-old, with short, blond hair. He weighs about 165 pounds and is between five-feet, nine inches tall and six-feet tall.
The hitchhiker was reported to have been wearing blue pants and a maroon corduroy sports coat.
