Installed in this town on Wednesday last, the Rev. Elijah Kellogg, late Senior pastor of the Second Church in Portland, over the Chapel Congregational Church and Society now organized in this town.—The exercises were highly acceptable to a large and respectable audience, particularly the Sermon by the Rev. Mr. Millimore from Jeremiah, 5th chapter, 17th verse. "Thou therefore, gird up thy loins and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them." The feelings of the audience were sensibly affected by the pathos of this amiable discourse.—The introductory prayer was made by Rev. Mr. Bradley of Falmouth—the consecrating prayer by the Rev. Mr. Coffin of Buxton—the charge by the Rev. Mr. Lancaster of Scarborough—the Right hand of Fellowship by the Rev. Mr. Marrett of Standish, and the concluding prayer by the Rev. Mr. Tilton of Scarboro. Excellent Music from a full choir added to the pleasure and solemnity of the scene.—This infant Society originated on the evening of Mr. Kellogg's ejectment, and on Wednesday morning last, the Council convened for the purpose, effected an arrangement with the second Church for the removal of 32 members: and formed them into a Church state, by the name of the Chapel Congregational Church. Great unanimity prevailed in the Council, and their result was publicly read at the commencement of the services.—The Churches convened on this interesting occasion were. the 1st and 2d Churches in Falmouth—1st and 2d Churches in Scarboro'—The Church in Cape-Elizabeth—The 1st Church in Buxton—The Church in Limerick—the Church in Standish,—and the Church in Buxton—"Blessed are the peace-makers for they shall be called the Children of God" A joint committee of the church and Society have requested a copy of the Sermon for the press.
