The Dey being very ill when the French frigate, commanded by Capt. Blanchon, arrived here from Toulon, on the 28th of September, with Monsieur Venture on board, they were not admitted to his presence until the 4th instant, when they came to an agreement relative to the corsair sunk by a Neapolitan ship on the coast of Provence; but they could not accomplish the same without agreeing to the following: to pay 26,000 sequins for 26 slaves and Turks, who were killed in the engagement, and some other trifling losses; and that the court of France do agree to build a vessel of 40 piques in length, to be rigged and stored exactly as the corsair, which is to be given to the Dey, to indemnify her loss.
