The State, Tuesday: Convicted in Chester county general sessions court last July 10 of murder with recommendation to mercy, Sam King, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for the killing of Mrs. Bessie Hicklin Mobley, was yesterday brought to the South Carolina penitentiary to begin his term.
The case came as an outgrowth of a shooting affair when King was alleged to have been aiming at Rufus Medlin of Columbia, the bullet striking and killing Mrs. Mobley, who, it was said, was attempting to act as peacemaker.
The killing took place last May 2 in the yard of the home of Mrs. Mobley. Mrs. Mobley was the wife of David Mobley. King's home is near Richburg.
