North Montana Fair Announces Program

Great Falls, July 20.-A greater entertainment and educational program than in any past year, plus a thrilling rodeo, all at no increase in price, will be seen by those who visit the North Montana state fair this year, August 7-12.

The rodeo will be staged by Leo J. Cremer, with purses of nearly $3,000 expected to draw some of rodeo's most famous contestants in the bronc riding, calf roping, bull dogging and bull riding competition. An added attraction will be the bronc riding contests open to Montana amateurs alone, with a purse of $300 offered.

Thoroughbreds as well as broncs will have their day at the fair this year, with $18,000 in purses offered for six days of racing and with the mutuel booths in operation for those who want the opportunity to back their judgment with cash.

Easy to write in one paragraph, but impossible to see in less than an entire day and evening. Hennies Brothers shows will be back on the midway, with 20 rides and 20 shows; and with even more of the neon lighting which last year made this America's most brilliant midway attraction.

Dazzling and interesting as the midway show will be, it will be matched by the world-famed acts to be seen by bleacher and grandstand patrons and by the night show, 'Belles of Liberty,' carrying with it a dozen specialty acts embracing comedy, novelty and thrills. The night show this year comes here direct from the eastern fair circuit where it won enthusiastic praise from seasoned critics.

Good as the entertainment program will be at the fair next month, of equal interest to tens of thousands will be educational features of great importance and interest, some of them to be viewed this year nowhere else in the world. In the latter class is the national Hereford show which until five years ago had never been held at any fair more than one year.

This show has been at the fair four years in succession and is coming again for the fifth consecutive year, with leading Hereford herds of the world to be seen in competition for $10,000 in awards.

Every angle of the livestock industry will be represented in other departments, with thousands of the nation's finest horses, cattle, sheep, hogs and poultry to be viewed.

Rating an entire page of description, but given only bare mention will be such outstanding state events as the state 4-H club show and baby beef sale, the state FFA show, thousands of school, culinary and needlework exhibits, an every-night fireworks show such as will be seen this year at San Francisco and New York, all on display in a $500,000 fair plant recognized as the finest in the Northwest.

An added incentive for many will be the daily attendance awards, with $200 in cash given each afternoon $150 each night, except Tuesday night when a new Chevrolet will be given.

Bringing the week's events to a thrilling finale will be the appearance of Dick Granere, king of the precision speedflyers, for years a major performer at the nation's largest air shows. He will be seen in a display of aerial acrobatics unequalled by any other flyer, including a loop-the-loop with his 38-foot plane through two 440-foot hoops on the race track.
