Charles Bentz Discovers Old Newspapers When he Razes Part of Building

Charles Bentz has some very interesting old newspapers which he found when part of a building at 205 Oak St. was torn down.

The papers, the old Ypsilanti Weekly Times, printed on September 9, 1897, the Detroit Free Press of June 16, 1897 and of December 5, 1897, and a Chicago Tribune of December 5, 1897, were found between the sheeting and the siding of the building.

In the Ypsilanti Weekly Times, a big advertisement proclaimed that the place to rent tandems or single wheels was at Samson's, bicycle headquarters, 517 Cross St., and that $50,000 worth of damaged boots and shoes in the Chicago Shoe Store, Congress St., would be sold at a fire sale for 25 cents on the dollar. The most wonderful cure in the world for rheumatism, skin and blood diseases was claimed for the Ypsilanti Mineral Baths.
