Big Crowd Gathers For Carnival

Hundreds of visitors began pouring into St. Thomas this week for the 1955 Carnival which will open officially tomorrow night. From Monday, the city took on a carnival atmosphere as many turned out in colorful hat and dress. Steel bands, followed by huge crowds, tramped through the city which is decorated with pennants and light streamers.

There was a community fair on Monday night, and last night thousands gathered along the waterfront to witness a parade of former carnival costumes and to enjoy the thrill of 'Carnival Village.'
