American Watchman.
WILMINGTON, 23 APRIL, 1822.
"Frown indignantly upon the first dawning of an attempt to alienate one portion of the Union from another."
WASHINGTON.
CLITUS "On the Wisdom of the Ancients," in our next.
Also, B. W's. communication from Newark, both of which came too late for this number.
We have received three obituary notices of the death of Gov. COLLINS, which we have given entire, rather than make an abridgment of them in our own way.
An uncommon degree of excitement has been produced by the collision, dissention, oppugnancy, or by whatever name it may be called, which took place among the members of the levy court of New Castle county at a late sitting of that body; and the editor of this paper, who is in duty bound, like all other editors, (pity on us, poor souls) to please every body, whether they be right or wrong,—has received an ample share of censure without cause, and abuse without argument. The editor will only say in this place, once for all, that should the contest between the parties be continued, his impartiality shall be made manifest to even prejudice itself. If this pledge shall not in the event, be redeemed, then let us meet the severe reprehension the merited contempt that may be justly due.
