The French, by their great Preparations, seem resolved to reduce Corsica by Force. The Marquis de Maillebois, who is to go with a third Convoy of Troops, is to have the Honour of rivetting their Chains. But the Corsicans who are strengthening themselves, determin'd to sacrifice all, rather than return under the Dominion of their old Masters the Genoese. These People (says Misson) make good Soldiers, and have a Rage in their Valour, which may be used to good Purpose.

They have now taken Occasion to display their Courage against the Fighters for Slavery; for by the freshest Advices, we learn, that a regular Body of 2000 French having attacked an important Post in the Province of Balagna, were set upon by 6000 Peasants, and after a very obstinate Engagement put to flight.
