We hear from Lunenburg, that as Lieutenant Samuel Reed of that Place was driving a loaded Waggon thro' Shirley, on Monday the first of this Instant, he fell from the Tongue on which he was standing, down before the Wheels, which running lengthways over his Back, broke several of his Ribs, and so bruised his Face and Body that notwithstanding the best Help which speedily came to his Assistance, he languished 'till the Saturday Night following and then died, to the great Grief of his Family, and the Loss of the Town of which he was a very valuable Inhabitant. He was a Man of a meek & quiet Spirit which he manifested during his Pain and Weakness, by great Patience and Resignation; and though it was his prevailing Belief that he should not recover, he did not appear to be terrified with the thoughts of Death, and when it came, seemed to have an easy Passage. He has left a sorrowful Widow and seven Children, at an Age when he might have been very serviceable to them.
