Man Blames Dice Game For Shooting
A man who was shot three times Saturday on Dimmock St., S. W., told police that he was wounded after a dice game he took part in with "BabyFace" and "Potato Slim," according to Detectives J E. Helms and W. M. Holland.
Harry Duncan, 27, of 999 Peoples St., S. W., was admitted to Grady Hospital Saturday with three bullet wounds. Police said he was shot in the left shoulder, the bullet going through the body, through the right side, this bullet exiting near the right hip joint and in the right side of the back.
The officers said the game took place in front of a cafe on Dimmock St., S. W. The shooting reportedly occurred at 10:30 a.m., the next day, after the alleged perpetrator failed in a previous attempt to shoot the victim.
Police quoted Duncan as saying the shooting grew out of a dice game Friday night. Duncan reportedly stated that he played the game with two men he called "BabyFace" and "Potato Slim," and found the dice were crooked.
Duncan said Slim pulled out a pistol and fired three times at him, but the gun did not go off. Duncan ran away, but said that Slim shot him the next morning, after they had become friends again.
Duncan told police that Slim shot him twice when he was walking away from him, and a third time when he turned around. Duncan then ran home and got his shotgun, and started back to the scene but collapsed on the way.
