Full Text

The New York Express says that although the specific provisions of the treaty recently concluded with the Sandwich Islands have not transpired, there is undoubted authority for saying that the commercial part of it is of the most gratifying character. Provision is made, we understand, for the encouragement of a line of steamers between the U. States ports and the East Indies. If ever such a line should be established, as we doubt not ere long it will, the importance of the Sandwich Islands, as an intermediate stopping place, in such an event, can hardly be over estimated.
