Ceiling Prices Announced for Turkeys, Ducks; Pecan Ceiling Not Received by Local Boards Up to Today.
The Office of Price Administration has announced that no more ration books one and two will be issued. and that when the remaining stamps in these books are used the covers may be destroyed.
Stamp No. 18. good for one pair of shoes, is still valid in Book One and blue stamps, X. Y. and Z. in book two will be valid until Nov. 20 tor canned foods. Local Boards are no longer authorized to replace either of these books if lost. stolen or destroyed.
Gasoline stamps No. 8 in the new "A" books will be good for three gallons each from Nov. 9 through Feb. 8, in effect giving motorists of the eastern shortage area a slight increase in their allotment of gasoline. Stamp No. 6, which has recently expired, was good for almost four months.
Turkey Ceiling
Ceiling prices have been announced on turkeys and ducks as housewives begin making plans for the Thanksgiving dinner. The retail price on young turkeys is: live, .46 per pound; dressed, 53 per pound, and drawn, .66 per pound.
The price is slightly lower for medium and heavy weight turkeys which weigh 22 pounds and over.
The wholesale ceiling price for live turkeys is ?6k for light ones, .35 for medium and .34 for heavy.
The ceiling on ducks is 25 cents per pound, live weight, wholesale, and 32 cents per pound retail.
Despite the newspaper announcement this week that a ceiling price has been set on pecans and could be secured from the local ration boards, the Quincy board has received no such price schedule up to today.
