Constitution For Hawaii Is Very "Outstanding"

(P) Special Washington Service)

WASHINGTON, (AP)—Delegate Farrington (R.-Hawaii) told members of Congress yesterday that Hawaii's proposed State Constitution is "an outstanding document."

"And the method by which it was formulated demonstrates complete mastery of the democratic process of government by the people of Hawaii," Farrington added in a statement in the Congressional Record.

The Hawaii Delegate included in his remarks the text of the address made by Samuel Wilder King, president of the Hawaii Constitutional convention, at its closing session.

Farrington told a reporter that King will fly to Washington next week to present copies of the Constitution draft to members of the U. S. Senate.

The House-passed Hawaii statehood bill, now awaiting Senate consideration, would confirm and legalize the action of the Hawaii legislature in authorizing the Constitutional convention.

Urging Senate approval of the statehood bill without further delay, Farrington said in an interview that the present international situation points up its urgency.

"We must strengthen our defenses in Hawaii, he said; "both military and politically."
