Full Text

Williard M. Albury, superintendent of Public Instruction, will leave for Gainesville on June 14 to attend a meeting of all school superintendents of the state on June 16-18, to study the budget set up by Florida for the use of the schools during the next year.

At the present time no one knows the exact amount of money which will come to the various counties under the proposed regulations for the State Board of Education. As a result of this situation the superintendents of public instruction are unable to make up their budgets for next year.

The Monroe County school budget must be in the hands of the state at Tallahassee not later than August 1. It is not known here just how much to pay the teachers next year, for this cannot be ascertained until the funds have been made available.

After the local budget is prepared, some time in July, there must be public hearings, after due notice of them has been given the public by advertising.
