Of the $4,693,084.01 appropriated by last legislature, $3,668,747.50 had been paid out on Oct. 15, State Auditor Arthur M. Stong announced Friday, in declaring that at the close of the biennial period on Nov. 30 next, Colorado will have paid all her bills and have $278,000 in the treasury.
"Bills, including relief bills which have been due for twenty years in some instances, will be paid by the end of the biennial period," said Stong. "Practically all of the $200,000 appropriated by the legislature for loans of $200 each to former service men for educational purposes will also have been paid out by that time."
"The Shoup administration will have placed the state in the position of having its bills all paid and a considerable sum on the credit side of the ledger when the biennial period closes."
