TO BE TAKEN UP BY THE HOUSE TOMORROW.
And Put Through in Double Quick Order, So as to Help One of Its Fathers, MR. REAGAN, OF TEXAS, IN HIS SENATORIAL BOOM.

Callom Confidently Expects That It Will Boost Him Into the Vice President's Chair.

[SPECIAL TO THE APPEAL.]

BUREAU OF THE MEMPHIS APPEAL,
No. 1305 F Street, Washington, D. C., January 15.-It is believed that the interstate commerce bill will be called up in the House on Monday. There is no doubt of its passage by a large majority and the bill will probably be before the President for his signature by the end of the week. In order to give JUDGE REAGAN all the benefit possible of the passage of the bill it is proposed to pass it Tuesday next, that being the day when balloting begins in Texas for United States Senator. The Judge is making most of his running on the strength of what he has done towards passing the interstate commerce bill. The result in the Senate allows to what an extent what is believed to be popular sentiment rules over that body. Notwithstanding all the defects in the bill, it was passed without any strenuous opposition at the least. To one who has any political aspirations it would have been impossible to oppose the measure. Senator Cullom is now quite sure of receiving at least the Vice Presidential nomination of his party when the time comes.

MR. RANDALL was in his seat again today and had frequent talks with his colleagues. No one knows what is going to be done with the tariff question. All is still dark upon that subject.

Judge Holman returned today from Indiana looking very blue over the prospects of electing a Democratic Senator. He thinks there will be an election on both sides, and as the case will be referred to a Republican Senate has little doubt of what the result will be. It is stated here that was today appointed a storekeeper and gauger at Blountsville, in the Second Tennessee Internal Revenue District.
