TWO MORE TRAINS

Rock Island Increases Its Kansas City Service.

Business Men's Train to Leave at 8:55.

MAKES TOTAL OF NINE

New Train Will Leave Missouri City at 11:25 at Night.

The Time Card Is Completed Today.

Becoming effective June 5 the Rock Island has placed two new trains between Topeka and Kansas City, the first one leaving this city at 8:55 in the morning to be called the "Business Men's train." and the other out of Kansas City at 11:25 at night to be called the "Park train."

This gives to Topekans nine trains a day out of this city to Kansas City- and nine train a day back from Kansas City on the Rock Island, nine on the Santa Fe and five on the Union Pacific. As the Rock Island makes no stops between the two points and four of their trains make the distance in an hour and a half. this gives to Topeka the greatest eastern service in the history of railroading in the west.

Here are the trains for Kansas City:

No. 24 leaves 4:40 a. m.

No. 2 leaves 5:00 a. m.

No. 40 leaves 6:45 a. m.

No. 126 leaves 8:55 a. m.

No. 28 leaves 1:45 p. m.

No. 12 leaves 3:25 p. m.

No. 34 leaves 3:50 p. m.

No. 4 leaves 7:00 p. m.

No. 36 leaves 7:55 p. m.

As none of these trains make the distance between Topeka and Kansas City in less than an hour and forty- five minutes it is easy to figure out the time made by the trains.

Leaving Kansas City for Topeka the following trains make the time:

No. 35 leaves at 7:55 a. m.

No. 11 leaves at 9:45 a. m.

No. 3 leaves at 10:40 a. m.

No. 27 leaves at 11:20 a. m.

No. 33 leaves at 2:00 p. m.

No. 39 leaves at 6:10 p.m.

No. 1 leaves at 10:00 p. m.

No. 23 leaves at 10:10 p. m.

No. 125 leaves at 11:25 p. m.

On all the railroads in Topeka it will be seen that there are now 23 trains a day into Kansas City and over 25 trains a day coming from Kansas City to this point. This makes the best service possible on the three big trunk lines, the Rock Island, the Union Pacific and the Santa Fe.

The new time card on the Rock Island was arranged Thursday by the trainmasters and superintendents of the southwest and comes out for the first time in the State Journal today.

This new time card makes a number of important changes as far as the people of Topeka are concerned.

In the first place the Rock Island has placed one new train to Colorado and return and has improved the California service by one new train in excess of the equipment used in past summer months. "Our increased traffic demanded this." said Geo. Hetherington, chief clerk to General Superintendent Smalley this afternoon.

The new Colorado train will be known as. Nos. 125 and 126. No. 125 leaves Topeka for Denver and Colorado Springs at 1:30 in the morning and makes connections at Belleville for the through Colorado train from Chicago No. 25. However, No. 125 goes right on through to Colorado.

No. 126 arrives in Topeka from Colorado at 8:55 in the morning.

There are two other trains to Colorado each day.

The California service out of To- peka gives the people three trains each way a day. No. 33 is a new train leaving Topeka at 3:50 in the after- noon. This is within a few minutes of No. 1's old time. No. 1 leaves at 11:50 at night and No. 3. the Golden State Limited at 12:40 just after noon. One radical change on the Golden State Limited-this train will not carry a chair car this summer. It will be a thoroughly limited train straight into Los Angeles. This is the first time the Rock Island has been compelled to do this. Nos. 33 and 1 will do all local work. The return trains--No. 34 will arrive in Topeka at 3:50 p. m. This is the same as old No. 38. No. 4 will arrive here at 10:00 in the even- ing and No. 2 at 5 in the morning.

No. 2 is the corresponding train to No. 33. However. No. 2 will do lo- cal work between Herington and To- peka. Formerly No. 24 did this. No. 24 on the summer time card will go straight through from Herington to Topeka only stopping for "let-offs." No "pick ups."

There is a slight change from To- peka to St. Joe and intermediate points. The early morning train which left formerly at 4:30 will now leave at 4:55. It carries a standard sleeper through from Caldwell and connects with both Nos. 2 and 24. It only con- nected with No. 24 before. The other trains to St. Joe the same-leaving at 7:55 in the morning and 3:30 in the afternoon.

Outside of a few changes .in the numbers which only come out as im- portant to railroad men the rest of the trains on the Rock Island will not be changed. The above changes are the final official figures on the new summer time card which is the first figure on this card.
