CHICAGO CIVIC OPERA COMPANY TO PUT ON ENGAGEMENT
MIAMI, Fla., Feb. 23.-Miami not only is the smallest city to have grand opera, but is the only place outside of Boston and Cleveland where the Chicago Civic Opera Company remain longer than three days. It will be in Miami eight days for nine performances.
These performances include such world-famous operas and internationally famous artists as "Aida" with Rosa Raisa, Charles Marshall, Cyrena Van Gordon; "Thais" with Mary Garden, Jose Mojica, Augusta Lenska; "La Traviata" with Claudio Muzio, Titta Ruffo, Antonio Cortis; "Madame Butterfly" with Edith Mason, Charles Hackett, Irene Pavloska, Giacomo Rimini; "Otello" with Raisa, Ruffo, Marshall; "Carmen" with Mary Garden; "Il Trovatore" with Muzio, Bonelli, Elizabeth Kerr, Virgilio Lazzari; "Rigoletto" with Mason, Ruffo, Hackett; "Cavalleria Rusticana" with Muzio, Cortis, Pavloska; "Pagliacci" with Marshall, Clara Shear, Desire Defrere.
There are 320 members of the company including an orchestra of 80, a stage band of 24 pieces, a chorus of 90 and a ballet of 32. It requires three special trains of 50 coaches to bring the company to Florida.
