U.S. FORCES, Germany - Army PFC Robert Oksoktaruk, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Oksoktaruk, Nome, participated with other members of the 92nd Transportation Co. in Exercise Sabre Knot in Germany. The training ended Dec. 8.
The field training maneuver, was designed to test winter combat readiness, involved approximately 30,000 troops.
Oksoktaruk is assigned as a gas-pump operator in the company in Giessen. He entered the Army in March 1961, completed basic training at Fort Ord, Calif., and arrived overseas in August 1961.
The 18-year-old soldier attended Nome High School.
