A Timely Rescue from Drowning.
Last Wednesday the Masonic fraternity of Uniontown and a portion of the Navy-Yard gave an excursion to Blackiston's Island. Among the sports by which the day was made pleasant was that of bathing. A young man McCathran was one of the most venturesome of those in the water, and during some of his feats he got beyond his depth and was seized with cramps. The other bathers, upon hearing his cries for help, became too frightened to go to his assistance. At this moment Mr. Oscar E. Huss jumped into a boat and rowed to the rescue. As young McCathran was sinking for the last time Mr. Huss grabbed him, and, after considerable trouble, succeeded in getting him ashore. He soon revived under treatment, and was able to return home with the excursionists, whose fun was marred somewhat by the occurrence.
