CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL NEWS

By "Jiggs" Dunton

Social Club

The Social Club of Central High School holds a weekly business meeting on Tuesday of each week. A party is held on the third Friday night of each month.

A party was sponsored last Friday night in the school community hall and a good time was reported by all.

Literary Society

The Now and Then (Junior, Senior and Post Graduate) Literary Society held its monthly meeting Tuesday, January 21, in the reading room. The following interesting program was arranged in connection with current events: Bible reading—Bernice Kilmon; Current events—Emma Hutchinson, Mason-Dixon Line—Allen Watson. Due to numerous requests, the club sang two of the currently popular songs, "Red Sails in the Sunset" and "Treasure Island."

Seen and Heard Round the Campus: Why it is that a certain Senior girl objects to a spotlight? We always thought that girls liked to be in limelight, but perhaps we were wrong . . . Our "chicken's" feathers were slightly ruffled after engaging in a few boxing rounds. The "bug" seems to have bitten most of the student body, for everyone's spare moments are spent either witnessing or taking part in boxing activities. Y'see, they go in there and go 'round and round and they come out here—who-ho-hoo! Who knows, but that even he might have a future world's champion in our midst? . . . The amateur contest, which is scheduled for Friday evening, has everyone on tiptoes with curiosity as to who the lucky one will be. At the rate that many of the students are warbling away, there ought to be a winner among 'em . . . Funny how a flat tire can spoil one's whole evening and it seems as though some people have all the ill luck! . . . After thought: Wouldn't it be funny if 4 out of 5 of the contestants sang "The Music Goes 'Round and Round"? Wonder what the audience would do—throw things or refuse to applaud? Anyway, we'll be seein' ya Amateur Night. (See? We're just giving Major Bowes some competition!)
