Full Text

Long Auto Ride.

A peculiar looking automobile stopped on Eighth avenue for a few minutes last Thursday morning while its two drivers, L. L. Whitman and C. S. Carris enjoyed a shave. The two gentlemen are on a record breaking trip from San Francisco to New York, and if they keep on running ahead of record time the rest of the distance as they had up to the time of reaching here, the record of sixty days will be cut nearly in two. They left San Francisco August 1. The best run from that city to Denver heretofore recorded was in thirty days, or fourteen days longer than the present trip.

The machine used is a Franklin, air cooled gasoline motor and is built very light for so hard a trip.
