WASHINGTON, (AP)--Secretary of the Air Force Talbott, back from an overseas inspection tour, is not talking about any storing of atomic weapons at projected U.S. bases in Spain.
Talbott, who arrived in Washington Sunday with Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Nathan Twining, told newsmen: "I can't discuss it."
He was referring to a statement, attributed to him recently at Madrid and later disclaimed by him as a misquote, that atomic weapons would be available eventually in the Spanish bases. Secretary of State Dulles and Secretary of Defense Wilson have said there are no such plans.
