GLENDALE, Oct. 21.-One of the most enthusiastic, as well as one of the most desperately earnest meetings ever held in Glendale, was the mass meeting held at the Woman's club house last night, under the auspices of the Glendale District Commercial club.
The meeting was an outgrowth of recent agitation for the building of a road from Glendale to Phoenix, over Grand avenue, and followed the action taken at a regular meeting of the Commercial club Tuesday night, when it was decided to call a mass meeting, asking the Peoria Chamber of Commerce and others to join with us in an invitation to the state engineer and a representative from the county highway commission to be present and discuss with the people the road situation in the Glendale district, and particularly Grand avenue.
Besides the representative citizens of the immediate vicinity of Glendale, there were present large delegations from Peoria and the Alhambra neighborhood.
The one disappointment and surprise of the evening was occasioned by the announcement that the county highway commission had flatly refused to come out and discuss with the people the thing that is most vital to the growth and development of the community-good roads.
