Our PTA met for the first time this school year on Monday night, Sept. 17. At this time our president, Mrs. Mazie Davis welcomed all of the parents and teachers back for the school year. Mrs. Crowder (the principal) introduced all of her adult school personnel to the parents. We all enjoyed meeting new parents and greeting old ones.
We are still urging parents to pay your children's school fee. It is $3.00 per year and may be paid $1.50 per semester. Please give your children every opportunity to enjoy everything that they should have at school.
We are also urging parents to buy insurance for their children. The cost is only $1.50 for the entire school year and the protection given is wonderful. Last year 34 of the children that were hurt in some type of accident were not covered by insurance which meant that the parents had to pay for hospitalization, doctor bills, etc. Parents may come to the school and sign blanks for their children or send for blanks and mail them in themselves.
We enjoyed our first chapel exercises at Holmes Elementary. At this program we saw all of the 4th, 5th and 6th new and old boys and girls and they met the entire school personnel. This was on Thursday, and on Friday the 1st and 3rd grades attended chapel exercises and met the school group. Mrs. Crowder gave us some very inspiring words to help us get started for the school year. Mrs. Dunn, our music teacher led us in several songs which were enjoyed by all.
