The Conclave adopted the following resolutions: (1) We commend and congratulate the NAACP for its significant role in the school de-segregation cases, resulting in the May 17, 1954 U. S. Supreme Court reversal of the famous Plessy versus Ferguson case which declared that a state could meet its obligations under the 5th-14th amendments to the Constitution by providing separate but equal facilities for Negroes. (2) To congratulate the Superintendent of schools of Greensboro, N. C. for making the initial move in that state to adhere to the United States Supreme Court decision on de-segregation of schools. (3) To collaborate with other groups to vigorously fight for and defend the rights of all peoples of the world, and to strike down, wherever it exists, slave labor, peonage, subjugation, segregation or any form of second class citizenship, and declare to defend the Four Freedoms: (4) To commend and thank all groups and individuals who contributed to the success of the 40th Anniversary Conclave.
Elect Officers
The Conclave elected the following officers to serve during 1955 namely: Dr. George D. Flemmings of Fort Worth, Texas, national president; Dr. C. V. Troup. Fort Valley State College (Georgia) prexy, national vice-president; Julius C. Simmons of Richmond, Virginia, second national vice-president; Ephriam Person of Chicago.
