Full Text
Preacher Waiton's Central Methodist Church was a scene of great interest yesterday. Fifty-two names were added to the probational membership, and the happiest man in Trenton to-day is the good preacher himself. Truly he deserves the great success that has thus far crowned his unflagging zeal and laborious efforts. The good work still continues, and the end is not yet. Old-fashioned Methodism is, after all, the only safety for that church. There is no use in trying to improve upon the methods of old John Wesley. The great needs of the poorer kind of people in religious matters were not met until this great apostle came to their rescue. Men and brethren, remember the pit from whence you were digged, and never "go back" on the teachings of the grand old heroes who rescued you therefrom!
