Council Told About
Girl Scout Program

Reports of Girl Scout activities were given and a new member to the Girl Scout Council was welcomed at the May council meeting, Monday evening.

Mrs. Edwin Shadford reported that the Little House at Recreation Park is cleaned and ready for the summer. Two new troops have been organized, a fly-up from a Brownie troop and the troop that was formed from the dividing of troop 22.

Mrs. Glenn Groosbeck, camp chairman, reported that the camp staff is nearly complete. The camp will be at Cedar Lake in the Waterloo area, again this year, from June 14 to July 1.

It was announced that Mrs. B. S. Webster, field advisor of region seven of the national Girl Scout staff, will meet council members for a training period May 17 and 18 from 9 to 11 in room one, Charles McKenny Hall.

The new member welcomed was Mrs. Ralph Wright. Mrs. Earl Studt, commissioner, presided at the meeting attended by 12 members.

The next council meeting will be a week earlier, June 5, instead of June 12.

At the leaders meeting, the resignation of Mrs. LaVerne Howard, president, was accepted and Miss Cornella Everard was elected president to take her place. Mrs. Howard, now staff secretary of Girl Scouts, started her new work, May 1. Her office is at the Ypsilanti High School. Mrs. Edwin Lane was elected secretary.

It was decided that the Court of Awards, that was to have been in June, will be by individual troops, instead. The Girl Scouts of the city will participate in the Memorial Day parade.
