Full Text

St. CHRISTOPHER'S, June 22.

Extract of a letter from London, brought by the Bell, Capt. Adams, dated April 27.

"I do not know any article of news that you will find in the papers sent you, therefore will not write you the lie of the day. Pitt is immortalized for the repeal of the stamp and cyder acts, and the Irish are going to erect his statue in every city in the dear kingdom, as the man who first saved his mother, and after that her children, from ruin, alluding to Great-Britain and her colonies."

Counsellor Norton remarked, that the zeal Mr. Pitt had shewn for the North-Americans and West-Indians amounted to treason, for which he ought to be sent to the Tower, but the house passed it by: whereupon Mr. Pitt himself repeated his words, still the house took no notice of it. The Boroughs and Corporations have addressed such members as voted for the repeal, and vow vengeance against all who endeavoured to obstruct it. The people in the cyder counties, and at Birmingham, wear Mr. Pitt is an angel. The next election for members will be terrible, and the prevailing opinion is, that this parliament will not continue much longer.
