Decatur Man Tells Revolting Story Of Outrage Against Daughter

Mr. Murrell Love of Decatur, Alabama, told the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People a sordid story of abuse of his daughter in Decatur, Ala. Mr. Love told the story of how his daughter had been mistreated in an alley and cemetery. She was employed to take care of the children in the home and an attempted assault while the boss was taking his daughter home from work. He further tells of a second occasion in which she was actually assaulted in a cemetery. The next day (believe it or not) she was arrested for forgery. She was released and then arrested again for forgery. Mr. Love goes on to say that while his daughter was in jail she was given poison. He has raised all of the money that he could in the South and has come North to get additional funds for legal prosecution.

Mrs. Miley O. Williamson, executive secretary has checked with Attorney Maurice Weaver of Chattanooga, Tenn, and the local NAACP branch as to the merit of the case. She states that the reply that she receives substantiated the story of the father and any funds that could be raised would be used to further their case and to help stamp out this kind of outrageous treatment.
