We have seen private letters from Sackett's Harbor, as late as the 26th ult. which state that Com. Chauncey intended to sail on the next day, again in quest of Sir James Yeo.

A false and scandalous account of our gallant Commodore's late interview with Sir James Yeo has been fabricated at Kingston, and published in some of our papers with a tissue of vile comments. If Commodore Chauncey's own word were not sufficient to refute the calumny, there are a thousand witnesses who can confirm his statement, and put his slanderers to shame.
