Father Said Youth Was Traveling East and Not West, as Had Been Believed
It was Joseph B. G. Picard, 24, of Missoula, Mont., who came to a tragic death in a train accident between the Missouri river bridge and the Mandan depot Friday night.
Identification was made today by Sullivan J. Picard of Missoula, the victim's father, who arrived here last night. Previously he had wired for a description of the man.
The youth, according to his father, had left his home to go to a town in Missouri. With the fact established that Picard was traveling east, it is believed the youth must have fallen from an eastbound freight. In an injured condition he lay on the tracks when Northern Pacific No. 5, westbound, cut and scattered the body.
Identification was made through wearing apparel, a watch and fountain pen carried by the youth.
