Down the River as the Guest of a
Philadelphia Newspaper Proprietor
On Saturday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, the
magnificent steam yacht Restless, the property of Mr. William M. Singerly, the proprietor of the Philadelphia Record, lay at
the Ninth street wharf, and a few minutes
later President Cleveland, accompanied by
Secretaries Lamont, Bayard, Whitney, and
Lamar, went on board. They were under
the escort of Mr. B. F. MacFarland, the
Washington correspondent of the Philadelphia Record, and were received by Mr.
Singerly. The yacht went down the river
twenty miles and then returned, arriving
at 6 o'clock. Lunch was served in the
main saloon on the up trip. Immediately
after the debarkation of the party the yacht
headed down the river, and soon sped
away for Philadelphia.
