Full Text

There are some unbelieving Thomases who still have their doubts concerning the finding of John Paul Jones' body. It seems almost incredible that the body could have been preserved in the earth one hundred years, in the primitive methods employed in its burial, and exhumed last week in Paris, and found in such a state of preservation as to be identified beyond all possible doubt. Yet our dispatches tell us that Ambassador Porter has beyond question found the body of the bravest and most daring American sailor and admiral the country has ever known. Now that the body has been discovered it will be brought to America and given the honors and sepulture that so great a hero deserves.
