Full Text

Country Press.—The Albany Journal

well says:——

We consider it a matter of the highest

political and social consequence that the

country Newspapers of the State of New

York should be strengthened and main-

tained. It will be an evil day in the his-

tory of our civilization, when an aggran-

dized City Press crushes the rural Jour-

nals—if that day shall ever come. The

very best thought, the very wisest im-

pulse, of the great municipal hot-bed,

where millions of every grade and temper

chafe daily together, cannot profitably be

taken at the firesides of our farm-houses

in exchange for the spirit and simple wis-

dom of rural Democracy.
