Full Text
Republican leadership in Lawrence county is without a platform or a program.
The party leaders have nothing to promise and their entire program is destructive—to tear down what the New Deal has built up. The official organ of the party, The Tribune, foe of the laboring man and his family, has no construction to offer, and therefore is conducting a campaign of hate and personal attacks on Citizenship.
A party that stands for undoing the better things of life, and has nothing to offer, has but one course to follow—that of personal attacks. The old cry of communism as is ringing out on Railroad street is amusing. If being humane, looking after the interest of the aged, and setting up a standard of living by opposing child labor and providing for the future of men and women unable to make their own way, is communism, then that is what this Nation needs.
