Full Text

We are credibly informed that some vigorous and effectual measures will be soon taken to reduce the exorbitant prices of provisions and corn, an august assembly having fixed on Wednesday next to take the same into their mature consideration.

It is said that a bill will shortly be laid before an august assembly for the encouraging the breed of cattle, and lowering the price of butcher's meat; by granting a bounty upon every head of cattle that shall be sold at London, and the other principal markets throughout the kingdom, and likewise by allowing premiums to those who shall rear up and sell most cattle at such markets.

We hear many petitions are intended to be presented to a great assembly, desiring an immediate stop to be put to the making of starch from wheat. It is said one starchmaker only near London uses 400 quarters of wheat weekly, and more wheat (which is in general all the better sort) is used in making of starch than has been used in the corn distillery.
